Question: Hoe can I best help my husband? What kind of addictions and habits am I really up against and does anyone or anything stand out that I should be worried about?
Thank you so much in advance you guys ate so awesome.
Answer from da Boss:
Has your husband said that he is an addict? Is he in some kind of a program like Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous. I don’t think knowing what he is addicted to is as important as understanding the behavior of an addict in general. We can get addicted to more than just drugs and alcohol. We can get addicted to sex, food, falling in love, thrills, gambling, and the list goes on and on.
For you to understand the behavior of an addict, you need to find your own codependent group. If you don’t accept your role as a codependent to his addiction, you’ll never be able to help him. You will actually do more harm.
Spirit feels you could eventually decide that you cannot continue to live with him. And that’s okay too. Most addicts won’t do what they need to do to recover until they hit bottom.
Be good to yourself first!
