Mercury retrograde gets blamed for a lot, particularly when it comes to the ways that people communicate. Did you know, though that this is one of the best times for reuniting with an ex? This phase of Mercury can often can provoke you to reflecting about your romance, and wondering what went wrong, and whether you could do something to make things right. Of course, all this review is well and good, but will retrograde romance rekindle your relationship?
Restrospect
Mercury is the planet of communication, and when it starts its backwards surf through the skies, you are likely to be more reflective, more retrospective about your past. They say hindsight is 20 / 20 vision, and during this period you may be able to see things more clearly, see why things fell apart, and whether there was anything you could have done differently. Keep in mind, that while you’re thinking this about your ex, your ex could well be thinking them about you!
Toxic Relationships
There are a few important points that you have to keep in mind while doing this, though. One is that if your ex simply wasn’t good for you, if the relationship was toxic, then you may need to just come to terms that this was not the best choice. While everything does happen for a reason, sometimes the reason is that you made a bad decision! If going with this loser was a bad move on your part, then suck it up and move onto the next person.

- A pistachio nut, still in its shell
- A small piece of paper
- A silver pen
- Pink or red string or yarn–it must be cotton or wool or some other natural fiber, nothing manmade.
The best time for doing this spell is when either Mercury or Venus is retrograde. You’re going to write your name and the name of your lover on the piece of paper, with the silver pen. Crack open the pistachio. If the shells do not break cleanly, abandon this spell–those shells are a warning that this is a broken relationship and not meant to be rekindled! If you have two clean halves of the shell, you can proceed. Roll up the paper very small and place it between the two halves of the shell. Tie them closed with the string or yarn. Take this to the nearest body of flowing water (a stream, or a river, or even the shoreline, but not a pond), and throw the nutshells into the water. As you do so, say the words:
By my heart I wish this done
Our two hearts again be one
By my soul, I pray to thee
Send my lover back to me
If for us this would be good
Reunite us if you would
But if this is not meant for me
Then heal my heart, so mote it be!
Will it Work?
Will retrograde romance rekindle your relationship? Oh, it’s possible, but if not, then keep in mind, that this transit is not a time for new love. If you’ve determined that your ex is your ex for a reason and you’re ready to move onto someone more appropriate. don’t do it during this transit. There will be time for that in the future. In the meantime, look at what’s gone wrong in the past, and vow not to make the same mistakes in the future.
